Dinner at I&A's

I brought the eggplant and the kind of witty dinner conversation and
table manners that guarantees that I only get invited to dine at
friends' homes once or twice a season. [It's a small mercy for them to
be spared the sight of me trying to eat -- hey, I'll not-do anything
for a pal -- plus it's becoming more and more painfully obvious that
St. Johns is seen as the hipster Gulag Archipelago to all the
Portlanders who don't see SJ as a vaguely charming but boring enclave
cut off from civilization by the Projects.] The homemade key-lime pie
was dynamite -- ingenious to use crumble coconut cookies for the crust
instead of the usual Graham crackers. Taken the 29th.
