Monster Matinee: "MANOS" THE HANDS OF FATE

First, read everything I wrote here; this movie's the same only much less so.

I sometimes toy with the idea of correcting the obvious mistakes in the movie [the missing opening credits, the "She'll understand" coverage error] in Final Cut to see if MANOS would be a film that's less enticing to kick around if it didn't have the kind of fuckups common in advance/premiere prints of movies -- errors that happen all the time but to movies that still have money and hope for the film's success. I forget what movie it was but I remember being at a screening for a journalist movie, so lots of text in nearly every shot. I still don't understand how this was even possible, but "Those Fuckwits At The Lab" [the apparent font for many a last-minute embarrassment] had struck a print of the film backwards, so all the text was reversed except for the burn-in credits and such. Obviously, the final prints of the movie that reached theaters were correct, but holy fucking shit if you're in indie filmmaker who doesn't have the will or the way to make them get it right.
